Invasion of the interlopers......

Hey, Rondo... come here quick...You’ll never guess what I found!  Hurry up, get in here and lock that door.  Shhh! Quiet... I don’t want us to get caught. *giggles and the two boys go into a huddle on Mousie’s bed.*

They start reading.... “oh, he’s soooooooooooooooo handsome... so floofy.  Oh, and diary, imagine!  He asked me on a date to Friendly’s brunch.  Me!....”  

Okay folks.... Not sure if you are aware but our sister, Gentle Mouse has a beau.  Yes, our timid little Mousie is in love.  *Etude rolls his eyes and swoons and throws himself into Rondo‘s arms*  “Oh Cheffy, You’re my hero!” *sighs deeply and flutters his eyelashes* *Rondo catches him, hugs him close* Kiss, kiss, Ah, Mousie, my little chickadee!”   Oh, oh, sorry, folks.   

Okay  so, here’s the background.   Sweetie, our baby sister,  remember her... grey and white, with sails for ears?  Yes, her... the female cow kitty, that’s right.  Well, she met this famous chef cat on Facebook.   His name?   Hang on!  Who’s telling this anyway?   Such impatient readers!   So, as I was saying, Sweetie met this famous chef cat.  Talk about excited... She was jumping up and down and a-whoopin’ and a-hollerin’ because you know, Sweetie considers herself the family baker and now she knows a famous chef on FB.  

Well, I don’t want the job, neither does Etude.  Are you kidding?.. we’ll eat the things but we’re not getting our paws mucked up in all that sticky, fishy dough.  The old girl, Whiskers?  No she’s too old and fragile to be putzing around in the kitchen and Mousie... well she’s too timid to touch knives and ovens and things.  Well, at least she was back in early February...but we’ll come back to her in a moment.

Hold onto your horses, out there! We’ll get to Mousie yet.   

So that left Sweetie to be the family baker.  Grammy, you say?  The old bat?  Nah! You wouldn’t want her to bake cookies.  Well, you might but, not us!  She puts things like carrots, Yuk! or spelt Eeewww! or raisins or kale, such ridiculous things in the cooking.  Never thinks to add a little catnip or tuna.     

Well, as I was saying Sweetie does the baking.  She’s a fearless little thing, willing to tackle just about anything... so she decided to learn to bake our treats.   And a great job she does too.  Uses the ‘nip and tuna and cheese.  Yes, the good stuff, the stuff we like, and changes up the ingreds. for a little variety.  Well, they do say, ‘Variety is the spice of life’. 

Yeah, we’re getting there.  Stop interrupting, readers!     

So back to Sweetie.  She’s famous on FB for her bunnytail cookies.  If you don’t believe me... just ask Zamboni The Cat and Da Fluffarooniez.  They’ve been for ‘nip tea and cookies many’s the time.  Ohhhhh and such fun parties they are. I remember one time Etude and I pretended we were butlers and served  ‘ofternoon teh’.  The old girl wore her tiara and pearls, the little ones in pinafores and white gloves.  They were quite the picture.  Zamboni brought his sister Boo also in pearls and white gloves and they had a jolly good time.  Pip, Pip and all that!  

AND then with Da Fluffs we have had some wild sing-songs.  Oh yes.  They are famous for their beautiful renditions and harmonies and Kaia does a beautiful descant...what an amazing repertoire. Well, whenever they come they have a standing invitation to stay for tea and cookies.   And that bunch never say no.  No, they are surely a social bunch.   Well, we think they must have instructions from their peeps to eat all they can  while they’re on the road.   Must cost them a fortune to feed all those mouths and to keep that bus in gas and repairs.  That in itself must be an enormous drain on their income.  Whew! *wipes sweat from brow*  

So, when the DF Chorus... yes, that’s what we call them.  The DF Chorus.  When they come, and they come every week, twice... one day to see us - Whiskers, Mouse, Sweetie, Etude & Rondo and then a few days later they drop in again... to see Sweetie - Sweet Cecily’s Tips and Hints for Making Kitties Happy.  And of course,  we join Sweetie.  You know we’re just thoughtful, that way.  Wouldn’t want to leave Sweetie to entertain that horde (I mean, her guests) on her own.  AND let me tell you... we have the grandest time.  Oh, the singing, and the camaraderie!  They are such a genuine bunch so full of joy and laughter.   

Only thing is... we’ve learned... we must always finish up with, of course, Sweetie’s bunnytail cookies and ‘nip’ tea.  No, we learned early on, no ‘nip’ tea before the melodious frollicking or things just get out of hand.  Really!  Disaster ensues.  Once, well their next stop was just a little delayed.  Yes, a tad late they were for their next engagement - ... We’ll leave it at that.  So remember, if you have them over for bunnytail cookies and ‘nip’ tea  serve them after the performance...not before.   

Oh, I know... what about Mousie? I hear you... we’re getting to our wee Mouse... have patience!

So... when Sweetie, our intrepid little miss, talked to the old duffer they set up a baking date. They were going to have an on-line FB baking/cooking day.  Imagine... I can see it now... two kitchens topsy-turvey with baking bowls and pans, measuring spoons, you name it... and that’s not counting the spilt oatmeal, tuna juice, and ‘nip all over Grammy’s iPad.  Well we wouldn’t mind the ‘nip.  Etude and I would be quite willing to clean that up.  Bring it on little Sweetie but the rest... call in the cleaning service, thank you very much.
 
Well, it never happened! You’ll see why soon.  Hold on, there readers.  We’re getting to it.     

Mr. famous FB Chef had made the little  squirt’s day... and she was happy, happier that a pig in a mud hole, she was. She’d met a famous cat chef and he offered to bake with her.  But then, get this!  He starts hitting on her...yes, that’s right?  Chatting up our baby sister. Probably thought she was older, but hey there... at least wait until you’ve seen a photo of her, mister!  Oh, right, Rondo.  I forgot!  He did see a photo and thought her pale blue eyes were lovely.  But still!  Look beyond those eyes... and you’ll see she’s barely litter trained and hasn’t grown into her ears yet.  But no! He wants to date the squirt.  *shakes head* Tsk. Tsk.  

Well, when Whiskers caught wind of what was going on, let me tell you, she had a few words to say about that.  Did she ever!      

In no uncertain terms... Well, he could forget that... Sweetie’s still a youngster... and anyway she’s been infatuated since she was a toddler with this handsome, ginger dude named Monty and that’s going nowhere fast, and that’s just fine with her (Whiskers).  She’s too young anyway!  No, Sweetie’s too young, not Whiskers.  Aren’t you paying attention?     At least Monty doesn’t hit on little Sweetie.. tells her she’s a cutiepie and he loves her but no attempts so set up a date.  No siree bob!   

So Whiskers says.... BUT, I have this daughter... maybe she’d interest you... She’s a little beauty... oh yes, a pretty little thing, grey stripes, peach and white accents, petite, dainty, demure...I’m sure you’ll like her...*whispers an aside* and she’s getting up there in years.  The old maid’ll be 5 this summer. *aside ends*  Yes, Gentle Mouse is her name.  I’ve been trying to pair her off for years.  Ahem!  I mean... She’s not seeing anyone... and would probably enjoy meeting you. *aside* If I can get her off that aerie of hers.        

What?  Since When?   We’ve never heard a word of it... trying to pair her up... what is she? Chopped liver? Sold to the highest bidder?  What’s going on here?   Well, short story longer... turns out hardly a word of this is true. The old girl was having one of her cranky, senile moments.... but cutting to the chase...That is sort of how Little Boy Cat happened to meet our little sister, Gentle Mouse.  So, most of it’s true... we embellished the story a smidge... well, maybe a bit more, oh all right.. we drew it out as long possible.  Had you on the edges of your seats, didn’t we!  

This guy’s name?  didn’t I just say? ... Little Boy Cat!  So LBC as we call him, private messages Grammy asking if he might take our little Mousie to a brunch set up by Friendly at the Beastly Brunch and Bakery. Gotta give him that.... he’s got class.  Dropped over to get her in, of all things, a silver PT Cruiser...  

What, Rondo?  Someone’s coming?  Quick... throw the diary and the love letters into her keepsake box and put it back on her desk ... Hurry up, Rondo. Hide.  *Door knob turns...*
